About

I don’t have much to add to this “about” page. It should be pretty obvious what the topic of this blog is–I write reviews of unusual card games, usually the ones where you have to buy a special deck in order to play them. I update the blog here once or twice a month.

Why do I write this blog?

I guess I’m just an enthusiast about this kind of card game. I’ve played so many of them that by now I must be some sort of card game expert.

Hope you enjoy the card game reviews here.

  1. Hey cool blog. I have a pretty novel deckbuilding game I’m developing right now called Galactic Council. Seeing as you are a card game expert, I was hoping to get your opinion on what I have so far. You might even like to create a card for the game, its one of the more novel features of my game -. the ability for the player community to recombine card abilities to make new cards. Shoot me an e-mail sometime, I’d be happy to grab a game with you (its completely online, no downloading or flash required.)

  2. Hello, we have a card game on Kickstarter. I hope you’ll like it for a review:

“STAY AWAY!” is a card game inspired by the Lovecraft’s “Cthulhu Mythos” and cult horror movies, such as John Carpenter’s “The Thing”:

We are also honored to have the collaboration of the Legendary Artist Les Edwards from Heroquest and “The Thing” movie by John Carpenter!

    Thanks,

  5. Hi Donald,

I am developing a card game myself. I was wondering if you can give the once over and tell me what you think?

It’s a Mech based card game where players construct Mechs out of card parts and then fight it out to find out who is the better Mech pilot.

You can find the rules at techniconica.com.

    Kind regards,
    Stephen

  6. Hi Donald,

I’m in the process of putting together my plan of attack for launching a new game via Kickstarter and was wondering if you would take a look at the game and possibly share it with your avid following.

I can send you a link to the free PDF download of the game once I launch the Kickstarter.

Let me know if you’re interested.

    Thanks either way, Donald!

  7. Hi Donald,
I’m testing a card game I just built based on political cartoons. It makes for fun with political “discussions” with your friends, rather than fighting. Here’s the link to the site with a short overview: http://politicalzingers.com/

Please let me know if you want to check it out.
    Thanks,
    Larry

  8. Hey Donald – we’d love it if you would be open to checking out our game – “Scandalous The Naughty Drawing Game. Hilarious. Fun. Educational.” In a nutshell it’s dirty Pictionary with a few twists thrown in. We are very excited to soon be launching on Kickstarter and would love to get your feedback. We have spent literally 100’s of hours making this a fun, well thought out, hilarious game. If you are interested, we’d like to email you the rules and the PDF of the game for you to print and enjoy. We’ve had tremendous feedback so far, and are extremely excited about putting this into the hands of the public.
    Look forward to hearing back!

    Thanks so much!

  9. Hey Donald,
My name is Jay Powell and i’m a card/board game designer and developer.
My newest card game is called ‘Here be dragons’ and you can check it out here: http://jayepowell.com/here-be-dragons-card-game/
I’m planning on launching this project on Kickstarter.com real soon.

The game is all about taking a risk when drawing from 3 different stacks of cards. Each stack is a different risk/reward level whereby luck can gain the most points to win.

It would be great if you could consider checking out the game, playing it, and writing a post about this card game. I’d love to see if there is a way to work together to provide great content for your site.

My wife and I have been working very hard in creating the art and strategy of the game and hope to not only reach our funding goal, but make a big impact on the gaming world.

    Thanks
    Jay Powell

Sounds like a cool game, but I’m swamped with other projects right now and couldn’t find time to review it. You might want to check back with me in a month–maybe I’ll see some daylight by then.

      Thanks,
      Donald
